Clear sky is the luxurious thing in Bandung during this time. When I saw this blue sky, I couldn't resist myself to take this picture for my SWF. Patricia calls this tree fido dido since we don't know what this tree is. Tall and thin, just gave me an inspiration for the foreground of my SWF picture today.

Direct Connection to Jakarta International Airport Soekarno-Hatta

The easiest way to go to Jakarta International Airport Soekarno-Hatta from Bandung or vice-viersa, is using the direct shuttle service, Prima Jasa public bus. This bus departs from Bandung Super Mal (BSM) once in 30 minutes and takes more or less 4 hours to arrive at Airport. It costs you IDR 60,000 (about $ 6); cheap and safe.

Wild Wild Beautiful

A beautiful wild flower taken at the forest close to Lembang, more or less 15 km to the north of Bandung. This flower is a common flower which can be found anywhere during this time, at the end of rainy season.

Traditional Horse Power

This traditional horse cart, called andong or dokar, is still used for daily public transportation at some area of city, such as Lembang and Jalan Gunung Batu. Hey, it's a wise way to prevent a global warming, isn't it?

Orchid Bizz

Orchids seller shows all his assets on a beautiful rack. Various flower pots made of ceramic are also provided. You can have one beautiful moon orchid for IDR 70.000 (or about $ 7).

Abandoned Notice Board

It's how ITB's notice board looks like when it's abandoned. Luckily, it's the last day of long holidays, since starting from tomorrow students will be back to campus. Officially, the new academic year will be started on 15 of August 2008, but tomorrow all ITB students will be supervised to do an equivalency of new 2008 curricula.

Finally we - Patricia, I and Aita - arrived in more dense forest. I particularly love this forest very much. We are regular visitors to this place, and exploring this forest is one of Aita's favorite activities. This lady, Bi Encin, was taking a rest after working for whole morning collecting elephant grass for her cows in her house. She and her sister had to walk for 2-3 km from her house to reach the field where they could cut the grass. "This ammount of grass just enough for 2 cows per day." she said. Yes, it's hard work. Even Aita admired them.

August CDP Theme Day: Garuda, Mythical Bird

August is a very special month for most Indonesians. In this month, 63 years ago, in the year of 1945 to be exact, Indonesia got her independence. On August 17th we will celebrate the Independence Day. So, when everybody turned their calendar to August this morning, outside there the city suddenly changed its color to red and white, the color of Indonesian’s flag.
For that reason, I present this metallic Garuda for this August Theme Day.

Garuda is the national symbol of Indonesia. Garuda, a Sanskrit word, is a mythical bird or bird-like creature that appears in both Hindu and Buddhist mythology. I took this metallic Garuda at Bandung’s Cikutra heroes’ graveyard. This metallic Garuda just came into my mind for this month’s theme.
