Sasando is a traditional music instrument originated from Rote island, East Nusa Tenggara. Sasando is a stringed music instrument made of bamboo tube surrounded by strings. The stringed bamboo is covered by several palm leaves producing a typical resonance.
I took this picture last week when we visited a national trade expo at Taman Anggrek Mall in Jakarta.

I agree that it's gorgeous! I would love to hear it played too. I think that traditional and ethnic instruments and music are so much more interesting than most modern music. If you find a youtube video or an audio webstream of sasando being played, leave me a message please?
